Decent Work and Economic Growth SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a universal framework that guides global efforts to end poverty, protect the environment, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. In the NGO sector, the SDGs serve as a roadmap for action, shaping programme design, implementation, and impact measurement. NGOs play a critical role in localising the SDGs by working directly with communities to address grassroots challenges that align with global priorities.

At Hand in Hand Zimbabwe, we strongly support the SDGs, recognising them as key to building resilient, self-reliant communities. Our work primarily contributes to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). We embed these goals across our economic empowerment, health, and social protection initiatives to ensure holistic community development. By empowering women and youth through enterprise development, financial literacy, and access to health services, we actively contribute to the achievement of these global targets.

Specifically under SDG 3, we are committed to promoting good health and well-being in rural Zimbabwe. Our health interventions focus on maternal health care, mental health support, and advocacy for breast and cervical cancer screening, especially among women in marginalised communities. By working with local health partners and stakeholders, we ensure that vital health services and education reach those who need them most. This commitment underlines our belief that sustainable livelihoods are only possible when people are healthy, informed, and empowered.
