Vibrant Youths make waves through business partnerships.

Fidel Musamani is a 21-year-old entrepreneur from Chaka in Chirumanzu District, Zimbabwe. He is part of the Young Generation Self-Help Group, which consists of seven members under the Jobs Creation Project.

After completing his ordinary level education, Fidel recognized the need to occupy himself productively. He decided to venture into the printing business.

In 2023, Fidel joined the Hand in Hand Zimbabwe community project, where he underwent technical skills training and business management training. These trainings were crucial for Fidel as they equipped him with the necessary knowledge to manage  businesses effectively and make informed decisions.

Fidel’s group initially engaged in various activities such as livestock keeping, baking buns, and floor polish. They also contributed $15 each towards an Internal Saving Lending  Scheme, which helps members save money collectively for future investments or emergencies.

With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Fidel decided to venture into a printing business at a nearby Business Center. He started with one Canon paper printer and initially made small returns of $10 per week but did not give up. This modest beginning reflects the typical challenges faced by new entrepreneurs who often start with limited resources.

To enhance his business visibility, Fidel utilized social media platforms for advertising. This modern approach allowed him to reach a wider audience and attract more customers. The effective use of social media is increasingly recognized as a vital marketing tool for small businesses today.

As his reputation grew, Fidel attracted other youths from his community who were interested in joining him. This collaboration led to the formation of a partnership with four other youths involved in various related fields such as filming, signage creation, t-shirt printing, and vehicle branding.

Through this partnership, Fidel and his four partners have achieved significant financial success, averaging $700 per month from their printing business. This figure indicates not only the viability of their business model but also the potential for growth within their community-driven enterprise

Fidel has expressed intentions to register their company formally. Registering a business can provide numerous benefits including legal recognition, access to funding opportunities, and enhanced credibility among customers and suppliers.

“When l started things were difficult but am so grateful for the assistance ,l received from Hand In Hand Zimbabwe .Their trainings played a pivotal role in my business.I have managed to partner with some of my peers and am so excited to share that we have become self-resilient.As young people this business is helping us look after our families and pay fees for our siblings,he said.

“Also working together as young people ,helps some of my peers not to indulge in substance abuse like drugs and help them to concentrate on business, said Fidel.

Fidel Musamani’s journey exemplifies how young entrepreneurs can leverage training programs and community support to establish successful businesses. His story highlights the importance of resilience, innovation through social media marketing, collaboration among peers, and strategic planning for future growth.
